A DEXA Single Site scan measures bone mineral density (BMD) at one specific location, usually the spine, hip, or forearm. This non-invasive test uses a low-dose X-ray to determine bone strength and assess the risk of osteoporosis or fractures. The procedure takes about 10–15 minutes, during which the patient lies still on the scanning table while the scanner passes over the selected body part. It is completely painless procedure. It help physicians monitor bone health, evaluate the effectiveness of treatment, and guide preventive care strategies for bone loss. DEXA is highly accurate and ideal for patients with specific site injuries, metabolic bone disorders, or those under long-term steroid therapy.
1. Age should preferably be 21 years or above.
2. Stop calcium supplement for atleast 24 hrs before the examination.
3.No barium examination should have been done in last 2 weeks.
4. No CT Contrast should have been injected in last 10 days.
5. No radio isotope study should have been done in last 1-2 weeks
6.Vertebroplasty may affect results.
7.Rule out pregnancy. If pregnant, confirm necessity of test and use precautions.

TAT Policy

- Registration date and time
- Type of scan or test
- Scan time or sample collection time
